TruSculpt Body Contouring

Non-Invasive Body Contouring in Naperville – Burt & Will Plastic Surgery

trusculpt1Introducing truSculpt, the new, non-invasive way to melt fat, reduce cellulite and improve skin tone.

Patients have been coming to Drs. Burt and Will for several years for liposuction and tummy tucks. But several patients ask us about how to correct fatty areas with less downtime or without incisions. Dr. Burt has spent the last several years researching different technologies that can achieve these goals. We have had demonstrations and have attended several conferences to learn more about the latest laser developments in fat reduction and cellulite improvement.

This past year, Cutera, a high end laser company, based out of California, introduced a new technology which uses radio-frequency (RF) to melt fat. It uses the radio-frequency to convert energy to heat which can subsequently melt fat and allow the body to reduce certain fatty areas in thickness and appearance.

This technology is wonderful because it can be used in all sorts of areas of the body including the bra rolls, love handles, saddlebags, abdomen, inner thighs, arms, knees, and lower buttock areas.

trusculpt2“truSculpt is very versatile,” states board-certified facial plastic surgeon Neena Will, MD.

“Previously, I was only able to give body sculpting patients the option of in-office or surgical liposuction, but now I can offer truSculpt!” adds board-certified plastic surgeon Tripti Burt, MD.

We were so impressed with the versatility and ease of the treatment and recovery process, that we added the truSculpt laser technology to our Limelight medical spa, in 2012. We have now treated hundreds of patients with reliable and noticeable results. We like to see about 25% improvement in the treated areas with the truSculpt package.

The truSculpt Treatment

During the truSculpt treatment, the Naperville truSculpt provider passes a hand-held electrode over a portion of skin, gently emitting a gentle pulsation of radio frequency (RF) energy. Each session is performed by our trained laser technologist and Naperville plastic surgeons, Dr. Burt or Dr. Will.

“Our patients are able to leave the spa or office and return to work without any downtime,” says Dr. Will.

Each session requires the use of a grounding pad, cooled electrode, and approximately 15-45 minutes depending on the area being treated. Each truSculpt package includes two treatments and they are typically performed 1-2 months apart. This allows time for the fat to melt and be removed by the body and will take about 3 months for the final results to be evident after the last treatment. The treatments are warm and comfortable and do not require any restriction of activity or compression garments.

How truSculpt Works

The patient does not need any special preparation or anesthesia prior to the treatment. This is because Dr. Burt and Dr. Will can adjust the transducer during treatment to accommodate each patient’s unique tolerance for heat. The heat breaks down fat cells in the underlying tissue layers, making it easy for the body to expel the permanently damaged fat cells through its natural detoxification process. The plastic surgeons can treat fat as far as 1.5 centimeters below the skin’s surface. This is where a large amount of stubborn fat lies and becomes difficult to treat with just diet and exercise due to the fact that it is metabolically resistant.

As an added benefit, the heat also tightens overlying skin, improving skin tone and the temporary appearance of cellulite. Typically, the cosmetic surgeons will recommend a second truSculpt treatment one month following the initial procedure for optimum results. Patients will continue to see an improvement in the treated area for up to three months after the last treatment.

The Benefits of truSculpt

Studies have shown that heating the subcutaneous tissues at 45° C stimulates fat cells, resulting in a 60-percent loss in viability. After five years of development, truSculpt has received FDA clearance for improvement in the appearance of cellulite. truSculpt is ideal for patients who do not desire surgery, are not suitable candidates for surgery or cannot spare any time off from work or family life to recover following surgery.

truSculpt is wonderful because it can be used on all skin types. The ideal candidate is someone who has saddle bags, bra rolls or visible bulges on the upper arms, inner thighs, abdomen or flanks. There is no restriction to sun exposure afterwards so you can be have these treatments before and during the summer too!
